How our LCV team plan for the future of your fleet
Mark Grundy is an LCV Consultant, responsible for Zenith’s LCV proposition and associated products, with 25 years’ experience in the leasing industry, specialising in vans and product management, working with some of the largest companies in the UK ensuring their vehicles are fit for purpose, operationally and cost efficient, and they receive the right support throughout their fleet life cycles.
Here at Zenith, we’re proud to have operations that span the breadth of the automotive industry, from cars, trucks, trailers, and importantly, vans. Collectively, our LCV team has over a century of experience in the automotive, leasing, and commercial vehicles industries – so it’s fair to say that you’ll be hard-pushed to find a safer pair of hands to help you optimise your fleet.
The LCV sector is going through huge changes as we continue to navigate the upcoming ICE vehicle deadline, and positively, strides have already been made in transitioning towards an electric fleet. In 2016, around 1,000 eLCVs were registered in the UK, this rose to 3,000 in 2019, and today, over 22,000 LCVs were registered, with eLCVs holding 6.3% of the market share. However, more work needs to be done, and as we move closer towards the current 2035 deadline, businesses need to carefully plan the electrification of their fleets.
That’s where we come in.
Zenith’s LCV fleet consultancy team
Our customers come to us because we have the experience, resources, and know-how to make the switch to electric as simple as possible. We work closely with our customers to ensure that changes can be implemented with minimal disruption to their business operations – we know how important it is to keep you moving.
To make sure that our advice is centred around the latest information and research, our team recently underwent the Association of Fleet Professionals’ Operational eLCV Fleet Strategy course. The course covered key information on topics such as how to take a data-led approach to transition planning, engaging the driver community to ensure successful deployment, and charging infrastructure.
As we recently updated the structure for our LCV proposition roadmap, the course provided an opportunity to realign our processes and solutions, drive exceptional customer outcomes, and engage all stakeholders. The course affirmed the efficiencies of our current offering, as well as providing insight into how we can further enhance our consultative approach along with how we deliver ongoing successful support at every touchpoint and end delivery.
The transition to electric for LCVs
Initially, concerns around the practicality of eLCVs deterred businesses from electrifying, however, the technology and infrastructure for electric vehicles has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and continues to improve.
The number of public charging points in the UK has more than tripled since 2022, with over 70,000 nationwide. A recent report by Arval UK revealed that a fully loaded mid-size van’s range was impacted by around 11%, decreasing to 7% for a half-loaded van, meaning that more eco-conscious options are practical with a bit of planning – which we can help with.
In short, as eLCVs become more efficient and charging points more readily available, now is the right time to transition to the new, electric normal. And we’re here to help you navigate the road ahead.
