Zenith launches first-of-its-kind salary sacrifice benchmarking report

Zenith, the UK’s leading independent leasing, fleet management, and vehicle outsourcing business, has launched its inaugural salary sacrifice Benchmarking Report, giving fleet decision makers a clear, data-led summary of how employee schemes are performing across the market.

Based on data from 95 customers and more than 18,000 of Zenith’s salary sacrifice drivers, the report benchmarks real-world performance across multiple sectors, revealing the trends which are driving vehicle uptake and employee retention.

The report highlights salary sacrifice’s continued momentum and its critical role in accelerating EV adoption. According to the data, nearly half of Zenith’s salary sacrifice customers launched schemes in the last five years, with electric vehicles accounting for around 80% of total orders – an uptake which has coincided with favourable Benefit-in-Kind rates and increased vehicle availability.

The benchmarking document also looks at the growing role salary sacrifice plays in workplace strategy, with 38% of employers citing staff retention as their primary reason when introducing a scheme.

Andy Wolff, Managing Director of Zenith’s Corporate division, said:

“With more than 25 years’ experience delivering salary sacrifice car schemes, we know exactly how policy support and vehicle availability drives uptake. Our Benchmarking Report shows that salary sacrifice continues to be one of the most effective routes to large-scale EV adoption, with electric vehicles now accounting for the majority of orders.

“As more employers introduce schemes, continued support, particularly around BiK rates, will be critical to sustaining momentum on our journey to net zero, while also enabling employers to use salary sacrifice as a powerful tool for retention and engagement in a competitive labour market.”
