Zenith Trailer Rentals has extended its long-standing partnership with Bensons for Beds through a trailer refurbishment programme designed to improve fleet age, reliability, and brand visibility.
The first phase will see Zenith refurbish 48 single-deck trailers, with a further 18 planned for early 2027. Suitable trailers are taken out of service, assessed, and refurbished before returning to the Bensons for Beds fleet in its distinctive livery.
By refurbishing rather than replacing suitable equipment, the programme gives existing trailers a second life and helps Bensons for Beds maintain a reliable fleet while making better use of its existing assets. It also supports the retailer’s wider environmental ambitions through a more circular approach, while reducing the cost of replacing equipment that remains fit for purpose.
Zenith Trailer Rentals has worked with Bensons for Beds since 2017 and is now its largest trailer supplier, with around 75 trailers on hire across the UK. The fleet includes single-deck box vans, and single-deck and double-deck curtainside trailers.
The partnership initially began with Zenith providing flexible capacity during peak periods, but has since grown to include full contract hire, servicing, and tyre support. Bensons for Beds’ trailers are maintained by Zenith’s extensive fleet of mobile service units, helping to keep them on the road and minimise downtime.
Chris Hanley, Sales Director at Zenith Trailer Rentals, said:
“Our role as the UK’s most customer-focused fleet partner is about finding the right solution for each customer, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. With Bensons for Beds, that has meant challenging the traditional replacement model and looking at how we can get more value from assets already in its fleet. It’s a partnership-led approach that has helped keep the Bensons for Beds fleet moving sustainably, while delivering a solution that makes environmental and commercial sense.”
“Zenith has been a trusted partner to Bensons for almost 10 years, helping us take a more sustainable and cost-effective approach to fleet management. Through the refurbishment and life extension of our existing trailers, we're reducing waste, maximising the value of our assets and supporting our wider ESG commitments.
"After phase one and two are completed in 2027, we’ll be looking into a similar approach for our 17-trailer double-deck trunking fleet and remaining SD trailers. Together, these investments will help lower the overall age profile of our fleet to around seven years, reducing downtime, improving fleet reliability and enhancing the visual impact of our vehicles on the road.
"As well as delivering operational efficiencies and supporting our move towards a more circular supply chain, the programme also creates a valuable opportunity to showcase the Bensons brand on roads across the UK. At Bensons, Sleep is our Obsession, and these refurbished trailers help bring our brand message to life; turning our fleet into high-impact moving advertisements while delivering meaningful environmental impact and business benefits.”
