Zenith’s apprenticeship scheme has been praised at the West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards, with judges awarding the company with a highly commended status in the Large Business of the Year category.

Hosted at Tileyard North, Wakefield, the awards recognise and reward both apprentices and employers that are excelling across West Yorkshire.

Zenith currently supports up to 25 apprentices, with the company hiring its largest ever cohort in 2022. Our apprentices work across Zenith’s key business teams at four workshops based in Leeds, Glasgow, Skelmersdale, and Aldridge, and at its HQ at Kirkstall Forge. Each apprentice has full support throughout the programme, is given a dedicated mentor for day-to-day queries, is involved in regular training and development, and will be put on a permanent contract once they pass the apprenticeship period.

It is the second time in a row that Zenith has been credited at the awards, with Rachael Smith picking up Mentor of the Year at 2022’s event.

Of the highly commended status, Talent Programmes Lead Nick Galicia said: “As one of Yorkshire’s largest companies, we know how important it is to nurture those who could become future leaders. As such, early careers is deeply rooted in our DNA. We’re delighted that our hard work has resulted in our programme being awarded with a highly commended status.

“It’s a true a testament to how we, as a business, feel about our approach to people. But our hard work doesn’t stop there. The programme has expanded rapidly over the last few years, and with further growth plans and new standards already in place, I’m excited to continue to develop our now highly commended apprenticeship programme throughout 2023 and beyond.”
