PM Rishi Sunak delays 2030 deadline

As you may have heard, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced the government’s decision to delay the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by five years until 2035.

As a company with a vision to eliminate tailpipe emissions – and with more than a third of our funded fleet now battery electric vehicles – we want to reassure you that our ethos hasn’t changed. We’re still committed to decarbonising the UK vehicle parc and our team remains on hand to help you transition to electric, whether your EV transition timeline remains the same or if the new 2035 deadline has caused you to reconsider your trajectory.

Positively, there is still government support for the transition, such as the commitment to low Benefit-in-Kind tax rates until at least 2028, van grants to 2025 and recently released chargepoint regulations that will enhance the charging experience for many. We will continue to work with and lobby government on all issues that support the transition to electric vehicles. We’re also seeing more OEMs laying out their plans and the sales of electric vehicles continue to increase, all of which, we hope maintains the momentum to a net zero future.
